NAMAQUA FLOWER HUNT HIIKING TRAIL
COME AND ENJOY NAMAQUALAND's FLOWER SEASON 1 AUG – 15 OCT.
Any 3 or 6 days / nights – Breakfast and Dinner included, camping – bring your own tents and sleeping bags / 4x4 campers welcome, all other will be provided.
3 Day / 4 Night option: R1,850.00 p/person and the 6 Day/night option for only R3,600.00 per person – all ages. Situated in the heart of "flower country" 15km from Springbok.
THE ITINERARY IN SHORT:
Arrive at the Jakkalswater Guestfarm at around 14h00. The team can also meet you at Springbok from 13h00 and accompany you to Jakkalswater. Set up camp for the next few days. 18h00 is
dinner time at the campsite. Welcoming and briefing for the entire hike.
09h00: Depart on our 1st day hike into the direction of the flower town of Nababeep. Visit the "Glory hole" and return via the Namaqua Rocky outcrops to Jakkalswater Guest farm
09h00: Depart towards Okiep into the mountains. The best flower sightings, with the old OCC road. Do a 14km hike during the day and look out for the Klipbok in the mountain range of
the copper mountains.
09h00: Depart into the Modderfontein direction, for a full day out in the veld. (See interesting rock formations, lots of flowers and natural springs with active bird life.) 12–16 km.
07h00: Set the camp down.
08h00: Breakfast - This is where the 3 day package ends. Those who booked the 6 day package will proceed from here on.
09h00: Depart from Jakkalswater on to Houthoop. Lots of stop overs for beautiful unforgettable picture perfect scenery all the way!
11h00: Stop over just outside Komaggas, where we do a short hike into the stunning "Acacia forest".
16h00: Arrive at Houthoop and set up the camp.
18h00: Well deserved dinner.
09h00: Depart to the coastal town of Kleinzee. Do a 12-16 km hike and visit the Kleinzee museum, Diamond mining history, and local folklore.
16h00: Drive back to the Houthoop and enjoy local hospitality, and have dinner at the Houthoop Guest Farm.
18h00: Last dinner and recap of the flower hunt, around a warm fire.
08h00: Last breakfast.
11h00: All depart from the Houthoop back to their own next destinations.
Hikers must provide their own tents, sleeping bags and we will provide the rest! Hikers must bring day packs and must provide their own snacks and drinks for each days hike.
